to do right by somebody - Meaning: to treat somebody in a way that is right and good. - Example: Good leaders always try to do right by those who work for them.

authoritarian | If you describe a person or an organization as authoritarian, you are critical of them controlling everything rather than letting people decide things for themselves. | An authoritarian leader tells you exactly what they want and how to do it. |
autocratic | demanding that people obey completely, without asking or caring about anyone else's opinions | An autocratic manager uses fear to make sure you do what they want. |

hands-off | Someone who has a hands-off way of organizing or dealing with something allows other people to make decisions about how things should be done and avoids becoming directly involved | If a manager is very hands-off, they allow their team to make decisions on how to carry out their work. |
adopt | to legally take another person's child into your own family and take care of him or her as your own child | When Marcus started missing his deadlines frequently, his manager adopted a stricter style of management with him |
approach | There are many different approaches to management: some more hands-on and close and others more hands-off and distant. |
